This is just the sort of book you’d expect to find in the library in House Key…
A rare fore-edge painted book, such as the one shown in the video I shared on FaceBook in Cornell’s Rare Book and Manuscript Collection, would be especially fitting in the mysterious library of Greigston Manor in House Key. Here’s an excerpt from Chapter Two: Awakening
“I snuck into the study, tentative and apprehensive at first; but now, visiting its secret library became as obsessive a compulsion as returning to a lovers’ rendezvous. I went often — as if I expected to find something. Or someone. I breathed deeply the smell of old books, heard the crackling of logs and felt the soft glow of a fireplace that hadn’t been lit in years. The faint, but lingering scents of musk and leather made this a decidedly masculine library. The only thing missing here was the man.”
